Dreamy October Sunset Session

I am so excited to share this session with all of you. Literally one of my faves for so many reasons! I think it is so common that people think of golden hour sessions being a summer thing. I totally agree that sunsets can be so different each season of the year, and that golden hour sessions do tend to be more popular in the warmer months when the sun sets later. However, I am a total sucker for golden hour sessions in the fall. Being in New England, we have those movie perfect falls where the air is crisp and leaves change colors in the most beautiful way. There is just something extra special when the light hits the earth, and all the trees & grass have some more golden hues. Seriously, it’s magical.

When Emily and Andrew reached out during the summer, I whole heartedly expected them to want to book for an upcoming week to celebrate the warm weather. I was so delighted when Emily stated that they were looking to book early for an October weekend slot. Since the colors can still be finicky in terms of peak foliage, we decided to hold off on choosing a location until it came closer to the session. We talked about all my fave local spots that have an amazing fall vibe to keep in mind when it came to decision time.

As the session got closer Emily and Andrew decided that they definitely wanted their session at a local fave, Happy Landings Preserve in Brookfield. I have to admit, it’s been about a year since I’ve done a session at Happy Landings. I started out my business journey by having almost every session there because it really is just so gorgeous, but then I started to be like “oh no! I definitely need to not use this location so much.” So I went to the total opposite side and just stopped going there. As soon as our session started I was reminded how much I love this piece of land. It literally looks like a piece of the midwest was dropped into the suburbs of Western Connecticut and just creates a breathtaking backdrop every time, no matter the season.

During our session, we talked all about their wedding plans and how they were planning this incredible elopement. Given everything that has happened in the wedding industry over the past year, a Colorado Elopement sounded extra magical. We chatted about how we actually live in the same town, how much we all enjoyed some local faves like J. Lawrence in downtown Bethel, and how incredible these two were in front of the camera. My heart was so filled by the end of session. Literally just so much love for these two.
