A Love Letter to Our 2020 Grads

To our 2020 Grads,

I write this little love letter to each and every one of you. While this may not be directly photography related, it has been a topic that has been on my mind. 

My heart hurts for all of you seniors in high school and college, but a little extra for you high school grads. This is such a precious time and truly is a milestone you have been looking forward to since day one of Kindergarten (whether you know it or not). 

Each and every one of you has worked so hard to get to where you are today. In these past few months you have had all of the traditional experiences taken away from you. Many of these experiences will not be replaced and the ones that will are still so different than your expectations. No matter what we come up with for all of you, I know that it will never be the same. 

But I write you this letter as a piece of encouragement and to help you keep all the pride that comes with graduating. While these past few months have changed experiences, they have also shown your resilience and ability to adapt. For some this is just another hardship they have had to endure, but for others this may be the first big adversity they have faced. As someone who has dealt with a great deal of adversity themselves, I can promise all of you (whether this is your first or fiftieth major challenge) that your grace and patience in navigating these new waters will carry you through.

Resilience, ability to adapt, grace, understanding, and faith. These qualities are shining through each of you right now. These qualities are just a few of what makes great leaders. 

We, as a community, look forward to watching you continue to grow. We look forward to watching you become these amazing leaders that will be able to teach the next round of generations all these qualities that you were born with, and made amazing use of during a time that we never thought we would ever really face.

So to our 2020 Grads, may you know that we are with you and that we believe in all the greatness that will come out of this for you.
